Iced Coffee Recipes for Enjoying Chilled Espresso, Thai Iced Coffee And Many More Variations

Published by admin under Uncategorized

There are many refreshing iced coffee recipes available, and we have selected some of the most interesting for you. However, my favorite of all it the traditional Italian iced coffee recipe which uses freshly made espresso, a cocktail shaker and ice cubes. In fact, if you ask for an iced coffee in Italy this is the only recipe they will serve. Poured into a cocktail glass, the chilled Italian espresso is second to none.

When the heat is on try this traditional Italian iced coffee recipe …

So, how is the Italian iced coffee recipe actually made? Simple, like all good things. Use your espresso machine, if you have one, to make a normal shot for one, two or more servings. Pour the freshly made espresso coffee into the cocktail shaker, add ice cubes (the ice doesn’t get poured into the glasses with the coffee, so the flavor isn’t diluted), close the shaker and shake like crazy! Pour into cocktail glasses and enjoy. Surprisingly, the iced coffee will not be a dark espresso brown color, but a creamy beige .

Here are a few more iced coffee recipes for you to try
Bermuda Iced Coffee

For this recipe, you’ll need coffee, cream, sugar and coffee flavor ice-cream. Pour the coffee, cream, sugar and 1 or 2 scoops of ice-cream into a blender. Blend, and serve cold in glasses or mugs. Tastes great, but if you’re on a diet beware.

Fresh Lemon Cafe

Here you’ll need 1/4 cup of coffee to which you add 2 oz of lemon sherbet, 1/2 tsp of lemon juice, 1 tsp of grated lemon rind and 1 tsp of sugar. Place the contents to your blender and blend until smooth. Serve in chilled glasses.

Cinnamon Caramel

This recipe has an interesting taste. You’ll need about 6 tsp of ground coffee, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 cup caramel syrup. Prepare a pot of coffee in the usual way, but add the cinnamon to the ground coffee. Add the syrup to the hot coffee and stir until dissolved. Chill the coffee and serve over ice with milk, cream or sugar. For an interesting variation, you could also use this coffee, but chill it in the way of the traditional Italian iced coffee recipe above.

Thai Iced Coffee

Here’s another interesting variation. You’ll need strong ground coffee for brewing 4 cups, 4 tsp sugar, 4 tsp heavy cream, 2 tsp ground cardamom, 1 tsp almond flavoring, crushed ice. Add the cardamom to the ground coffee and brew, when ready add the sugar and almond flavoring, mix well and leave to cool or chill in fridge. Fill four glasses half way with the crushed ice, then add the coffee leaving about an inch or a little more from the rim of the glass. Hold a spoon over the coffee and gently pour the cream over the spoon so that the cream floats on the top of your iced coffee.

Well, that’s it. These are just a few of the many iced coffee recipes that are available today. Part of the fun is also experimenting. Enjoy.

Cooking in the Caribbean

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Caribbean cooking introduces all visitors to some truly distinctive flavors through the addition of spices and other ingredients like mangoes, coconut, lime, cassava, papaya, yam, guava, and peppers. Surprisingly, the use of limes in Caribbean cooking among the natives is not all that different from the way it is used in the United States. Lime is one of the most popular ways of marinating fish and a popular dish is Ceviche, which is seafood cooked with the aid of citric juices and seasoned with herbs and onions. Caribbean cooking is not merely delicious it is also unique from one island to another. Each island has developed its own style and technique of cooking food and the food in the Caribbean is as varied as the experience from island to the next.

The Bahamas is known for the conch recipes.

Cuba is famous for black beans and rice.

Jamaica is the home of jerk cooking and seasoning.

Barbados means fried fish and cou cou.

Puerto Rico comes closer to home with chicken and rice.

The French Caribbean is known for its cerole dishes and many similar French cooking methods.

Trinidad is the land of curries.

All Caribbean cooking involves herbs and spices of various types for seasoning. One such ingredient is tamarind that is in many ways similar to Worcestershire sauce in taste because it too has tamarind as one of the major ingredients. In fact, the use of spices in Caribbean cooking is truly diverse and amazing. Nutmeg flavors the desserts in the United States but in the Caribbean, this spice is mixed with other spices that are natively grown on the islands and this makes for a totally different flavor in Caribbean cooking. The jerk cooking of Jamaica gets its flavor from allspice while the island of Cayman has a chocolate cake recipe that includes some spicy peppers.

There are many common forms of spices used in Caribbean cooking but the trick is that though you will recognize flavors as a familiar taste the cooking will be subtle enough to feel unique to your taste buds. Caribbean cooking is full of delectable sauces that are made of sweet fruits like mango, papaya, and orange with spicy hot peppers. Dipping sauces in Caribbean cooking are made from mango, chili peppers, and melon.

In Caribbean cooking, coconut milk is the basis of several stews and sauces.

Last, and by no means the last, is the most favorite ingredient of Caribbean cooking that is used in marinades, desserts, sauces, and soups - rum.

The Tea Room Business Plan - Start Up

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Although there are many opportunities for tea rooms as successful businesses, success requires planning. But before the planning process starts the budding entrepreneur needs to evaluate their personal psychological, emotional and financial preparation for the task ahead.

Start Up

Are You Ready?

Starting and running a business is not easy. If it were, because of the rewards, many would do it. And it takes more than a dream and planning skills. The individual entrepreneur must have the psychological profile to undertake the effort and make it a success. There are many elements in the profile and below are a list of questions that must be considered before the entrepreneur devote time, resources and money to a new venture.

What are the similarities of successful entrepreneurs?

• persistence

• desire for immediate feedback

• inquisitiveness

• strong drive to achieve

• high energy level

• goal oriented behavior

• independent

• demanding

• self-confident

• calculated risk taker

• creative

• innovative

• vision

• commitment

• problem solving skills

• tolerance for ambiguity

• strong integrity

• highly reliable

• personal initiative

• ability to consolidate resources

• strong management and organizational skills

• competitive

• change agent

• tolerance for failure

• desire to work hard

• luck

Entrepreneurs are made, not born and these skills can be acquired over time. The financial and social benefits to the successful entrepreneur are many but perhaps the greatest benefit is the psychic rewards of being your own boss and accomplishing the goals of the business,

Are you ready?

Is Entrepreneurship For You?

In business, there are no guarantees. There is simply no way to eliminate all the risks associated with starting a small business - but you can improve your chances of success with good planning, preparation, and insight.

Start by evaluating your strengths and weaknesses as a potential owner and manager of a small business. Carefully consider each of the following questions.

Are you a self-starter? It will be entirely up to you to develop projects, organize your time, and follow through on details.

How well do you get along with different personalities? Business owners need to develop working relationships with a variety of people including customers, vendors, staff, bankers, and professionals such as lawyers, accountants or consultants. Can you deal with a demanding client, an unreliable vendor, or a cranky receptionist if your business interests demand it?

How good are you at making decisions? Small business owners are required to make decisions constantly - often quickly, independently, and under pressure.

Do you have the physical and emotional stamina to run a business? Business ownership can be exciting, but it’s also a lot of work. Can you face six or seven 12-hour work days every week?

How well do you plan and organize? Research indicates that poor planning is responsible for most business failures. Good organization of financials, inventory, schedules, and production can help you avoid many pitfalls.

Is your drive strong enough? Running a business can wear you down emotionally. Some business owners burn out quickly from having to carry all the responsibility for the success of their business on their own shoulders. Strong motivation will help you survive slowdowns and periods of burnout.

How will the business affect your family? The first few years of business startup can be hard on family life. It’s important for family members to know what to expect and for you to be able to trust that they will support you during this time. There also may be financial difficulties until the business becomes profitable, which could take months or years. You may have to adjust to a lower standard of living or put family assets at risk in the short-term.

Not everyone can or should be an entrepreneur and it is hard to imagine a society with total entrepreneurship all of the time. Nevertheless, those who elect to start a business can reap many psychological and financial benefits.

Proper planning is the best way to improve your chances of success.

Espresso Machines: Not For The Coffee Shop Anymore

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Instead of going to the local coffee shop, use your espresso machines instead. There are some excellent opportunities out there for you in these new, must have options for your kitchen. Once only used in coffee shops and in restaurants that were high end, these machines have been made so that anyone, anywhere can use them rather easily.

Espresso machines are available in several ways. You may have a favorite method of making the espresso or perhaps you are looking for something that offers a distinctive taste. In most cases, you will find that there are espresso machines that do just what you are looking for. Because they are so easy to use, you will be able to make your favorite espresso flavors yourself as well.

On top of this, you will also find that some machines are also combinations. Love cappuccino as well? Would you like a standard coffee maker along with your new espresso machine? These too can be purchased. You will find them available in a variety of styles and colors to fit any kitchen.

Yet another feature that is important to comment on is their quality. Some of the espresso machine styles that are on the market for individual use are in fact quite capable of making coffee house style coffee that is rich and full flavored, missing nothing except the price tag. And, you can experiment with coffee beans that fit your tastes while in a coffee house you may be limited. Purchase gourmet varieties for pennies on the dollar online and enjoy the coffee that is nothing short of amazing every day that you wake up.

Worried about dealing with these things each morning? Don’t be, because you will find it very hard to find an espresso machine that isn’t easy to use. Clean up is often just as easy as a standard coffee maker so that is not a problem as well. Espresso machines look great, work great and add an air of sophistication to your life.

Bobotie, Traditional South African Cooking!

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Bobotie is one of the proudest and oldest South African recipes. It was influenced and inspired by the slaves that came to South Africa. They brought with them their great spices and flavours, and Bobotie was invented!

Ingredients:

2 large onions
2 tablespoons butter
1 thick slice of white bread
1 cup milk
1 kg mutton (minced beef can be used as substitute)
2 ½ tablespoons strong curry powder
1 teaspoon turmeric
2 tablespoons apricot jam
2 almonds, quartered
¼ cup lemon juice (or vinegar)
2 teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon white pepper
¼ cup seedless raisins
1 green apple, grated
10 dried apricots, soaked and cut up (or apricot jam)
4 lemon leaves or dried bay leaves
2 eggs

Method:

1. Pre-heat the oven to 180°C. Lightly fry the onions in the butter.

2. Soak the bread in half the milk and mash with a fork.

3. Mix the meat with all of the ingredients except for the eggs, the rest of the milk and bay/lemon leaves.

4. Put the mixture in an oven proof dish. Push the lemon/bay leaves in on the top.

5. Cover and bake for about 40 minutes.

6. Beat the eggs and milk together and pour over the meat. Slightly lift it to allow the egg to run into the bobotie. Bake until brown on top (about 15 – 20 minutes).

To serve:

Serve bobotie with yellow rice and raisins. Side dishes that go great with bobotie and yellow rice are vegetables like green beans and sweet potato, or try potato salad.

Healthy Food Snack Recipes To Make Guests’ Mouths Water

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Natural healthy food organic recipes are usually tasty. Nutritionists tell us that there is more nutrition in the cardboard box that packages your cornflakes than there is in your cornflakes. But even if cornflakes were nutritious, they can’t compare with the flavor of strawberries straight from your organic garden.

I’ve spent many happy hours gathering mulberries from the roadside trees, and blackberries, and carob beans, and raspberries, and strawberries, and English gooseberries. Some of these delicious fruit even reached the container because I couldn’t eat them as fast as I picked them.

Of course your healthy food breakfast should have a bit more than just fruit. Vegetables are also great. I used to wander my organic garden and gather whatever struck my fancy. Some of it was suitable for breakfast such as Daikon radish, Florence fennel, purslane, Chinese cabbage, cabbage, nasturtium flowers, pansy flowers, day lily flowers, parsley, garlic greens and so on.

Now I have hardly any teeth left I prepare this healthy food breakfast. It doesn’t take me very long at all. I start by drinking 1.2 litres of water.

Into my 1.5litre blender I put three driied shiitake mushrooms, half an orange with the skin still on it, a tomato, a carrot, three florets of broccoli, 2 cloves garlic, 2 tablespoons powdered ginger root, 2 tablespoons brewer’s yeast, one apple, handful of raisins, 50ml coconut oil, 600 ml (1pint) water. While it is blending I crack 2 jumbo-size eggs into a glass ready to pour into the blender.

When everything is blended to my satisfaction I add the two eggs and blend for another ten seconds, then drink everything from the blender, to save on washing up.

I finish my breakfast with a good handful of dried bananas. Not only are these cheaper than fresh bananas, but recent research indicates that they are more healthy than fresh bananas.

In the middle of the morning I snack on a tablespoon of apricot kernels, because even if they don’t protect me from cancer, I like their flavor.

For lunch I have 200 gm red cabbage and some fruit. In the middle of the afternoon I drink 400 ml of water, and a mug full of cocoa with dried stevia powder as a sweetener. The cocoa makes me feel good and suppresses any pangs of hunger, just as chocolate does, but the stevia is a better sweetener than sugar.

For the evening meal I have a stew made of kangaroo mince, and seaweed, and garlic, and onions, and 1.5 litres of coconut oil. In the evening I munch of almond nuts and three Brazil nuts, and perhaps some raisins.

If your children don’t like natural healthy food organic recipes, get them interested in growing vegetables, and in preparing meals with the fruit and vegetables they have harvested themselves. They will suddenly start enjoying good food.

Introducing The Latest Rage In Cookware Selection - Celebrity Endorsed Pots, Pans And Skillets

Published by admin under Uncategorized

The latest rage in cookware selection is celebrity endorsed pots and pans. Everyone from Emeril Legasse to Martha Stewart have their own line of cookware. Whether you want the high end selections of Emeril or Rocco or you prefer the Martha Stewart more budget conscious “Everyday” collection, so you can cook with the stars.

Wolfgang Puck’s has his “Bistro Collection“. You can only purchase this set through the home shopping channel There is a 4-millimeter aluminum disc in the base of the pots and the handles are hollow, stainless steel.

Of course not all celebrity endorsed cookware makes the cut. For instance Good Housekeeping test kitchen did not give Martha‘s Everyday collection of cookware a thumbs up. Unfortunately for Martha Stewart, her line of cookware did not fare to well in the consumer report kitchen. The editors at Good Housekeeping have tested nearly every type of pot and pan imaginable. They have tested everything from skillets and saucepans to Dutch ovens and roasters. It should be noted that the Martha Stewart Everyday collection of cookware costs considerably less than the other celebrity choices.

One of the test that is conducted by Good Housekeeping is for heat conduction. Heat conduction is the most important factor in cookware construction (per the testing committee). They test other items but if the cookware fails this test then what is the point?

The Martha cookware did not fare very well . The report concluded that the Martha Stewart cookware 12-inch nonstick skillet retained heat poorly. The skillet got too hot over high heat The skillet heated too slow over a low flame. Editors say it burned onions in their sauté tests.

Legasse endorses Emerilware which performed well in all the categories. The brand name that stands behind him has excellent cookware. Emerilware Cookware is constructed from heavy gauge aluminum with a tough enamel exterior for long-lasting style in the kitchen. The cookware has a durable enamel.

Rocco DiSpirito , star of the Food Network series, introduced Rocco Cookware “for
serious chefs“. The collection is the first cast aluminum cookware collection with a porcelain interior and exterior The cookware has his signature fashion colors and bold design. Additionally, Rocco is debuting a collection of pressure cookers and new low-pressure cookware sets that take “cooking under pressure” to the next level.

For non-celebrity cookware, heavy gauge stainless steel is the best high-end cookware. Stainless steel is a good choice for use with gas ranges and the cookware is oven-safe to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The nonstick version is a very good good choice.

Low cost nonstick cookware made of hard-anodized aluminum with a nonstick coating is lighter in weight than the more expensive brand. This cookware is not dishwasher safe. This cookware is 400-degrees Fahrenheit. Copper pots and pans are among the most expensive kind of cookware,. Gourmet chefs love copper for their superior heat conduction. Copper pots need to be lined with tin or low maintenance stainless steel.

The cookware you choose whether celebrity or non celebrity should fit your budget and your lifestyle. There are so many choices available that when a celebrity endorses a product , it makes our choices easier.

Changing How You Eat

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Changes can be difficult, especially changes in your diet and nutrition. If you’re a young healthy individual who lives in Dallas, Houston or anywhere in Texas, it’s easier to change your diet now and reap the benefits, than to change later on when you’re older, because of health problems.

One of the first and best ways to control what to eat is to cook for yourself. If you can’t cook, learn how. With the hundreds of thousands of recipes, both online and in libraries, you’re bound to find a cuisine you’ll love that’s both tasty and healthy. Cooking is one way to take advantage of important nutrients that occur in extremely small amounts, yet have incredible repercussions in your body.

Unlike with freshly prepared food, many commercial food preparers find it convenient and cheaper to substitute nutrients for a longer “shelf life.” In addition, some of the more nutritious foods aren’t very popular; they’re never marketed, and few people know how to prepare or enjoy them. It’s a good idea to stay away from commercially-prepared foods and stick with preparing and cooking fresh foods.

One of the more important changes you can make in your diet is to cut back on the amount of fat you consume. So, if you currently eat a lot of fat, try just one or two of the following changes:

-For meat — eat it baked, grilled and broiled rather than fried. Take the skin off before eating chicken. Eat fish at least once a week.

- Cut back on extra fat — butter or margarine on bread, sour cream on baked potatoes, and salad dressings.

- Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables with your meals and as snacks.

- When eating in restaurants, watch out for “hidden” fats — salad dressing and desserts as well as larger portion sizes.

- Read the nutrition labels before you buy food. If you can’t decipher the labels, talk to your doctor or your nutritionist.

- Drink no- or low-calorie beverages — water, unsweetened tea and diet soda.

Balanced nutrition and regular exercise are still part of a good health regime even if your weight is consistent. So it’s important to set goals that you have a good chance of attaining, like making one of the small changes listed above or walking one additional day per week.

Yours and your family’s medical history may also be an important reason to change your diet. If you answer “yes” to any of the following questions, you may need to talk about nutrition with your doctor:

- Have you been diagnosed with a medical problem or risk factor, such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol?

- Were you told that this condition could be improved by better nutrition?

- Does diabetes, cancer, heart disease or osteoporosis run in your family?

- Are you overweight, or have you gained weight over the years?

- Do you need to find out what kinds of foods you should eat or whether you should take vitamins?

- Do you think that you could benefit from seeing a nutritionist?

Sure, it’ll be hard make changes in your diet, but even very small changes can improve your health considerably. It’s important to keep trying to eat the right foods. Also, stay in touch with your doctor and nutritionist, to let them know how you’re doing. Take a look at the following suggestions to help you improve your eating habits:

- Evaluate the strong and weak points in your diet: Do you eat five to seven servings of fruits and vegetables daily? Do you get enough calcium? Do you eat whole-grain, high-fiber foods regularly? If so, you’re on the right track. If you’re not, learn the changes you need to make.

- Make these changes small and slowly, instead of making large, fast changes. Small changes are easier to make and to stick with.

- Keep track of your food intake. Keep a daily diary of what you eat and drink. Use this diary to help you see if you need to make beneficial changes to your diet.

- Ask for help from a nutritionist if you haven’t already done so — especially if you have a medical problem that requires a special diet.

Good nutrition is important to maintaining good health. And as you’ll discover, what you put into your body will affect your health. And your health, good or bad, will eventually affect your bank account. So, if you’re young adult who watches what you consume and tries to maintain a healthy condition, you should take a look at the revolutionary, comprehensive and highly-affordable, individual health insurance solutions created by Precedent specifically for you.
